Adding Web Site Content, Ads and Affiliate Programs
To Your Site to Generate Income
There's no getting around it. To make the most out of your
online success, you absolutely need a content based website. The
internet is a huge resource for information about every possible
thing you can imagine. It's hard to imagine life without the
internet or search engines like Google. Also, search engines
thrive on content from websites. When people search on
www.google.com
for example, they are looking for information. They may be
looking to buy something, but information is the key. Google,
Yahoo, MSN, you name the service, they are all looking to corner
the market on archiving links to every possible source of
information on the internet. When people use a specific search
engine, and type in what they're looking for, they expect
nothing less than relevant websites displayed to them. If they
don't get what they're looking for, they will go to a search
engine that delivers what they need.
That's why content websites are so important today, than they
ever were. Search spiders (bots) scour the internet for web
pages and archive these into specific categories. They maintain
huge databases of all this information so when you or I type
something into a search engine, we get hundreds or thousands of
websites that fit what we're looking for. The search engine
business is a mulit-billion dollar industry and these guys are
playing for keeps. Companies like Google are doing all they can
to get you to use their service over anyone elses.
You may be asking, "Well, what does this mean to me?". It means
everything to you. If you want your website to be listed in the
free search engines, you must have content on your website. The
more content the better. You will also want to incorporate Ads
on your website like Google AdSense. To see what Google AdSense
is all about and create a free account, just to the Google
AdSense page.
AdSense is a great way to generate additional revenue from your
website. There's no doubt you've seen these ads on almost every
website you've visited. They're on this websites as well.
Anytime you see text or graphic adds that say "Ads by
Goooooogle" next to them, you know they're Google AdSese
ads. When people click on these ads, the webmaster hosting the
ads gets paid a certain amount of money for the click. You don't
make a lot of money per click, but if your website has thousands
of visitors a month, these revenues can add up quickly.
The other way to generate more income for your website is to
incorporate Affiliate programs links. Affiliate programs allow
anyone to promote and sell products and services and make a
commission on these sales. This is where the money is. But
trying to promote individual products or services online today
is very difficult. That's why you're so much better off creating
your own content based website, and adding relevant Affiliate
programs throughout your website. Then as your visitors read
through your website, they may see and ad for a product or
service that catches their eye, and click on it. If they make a
purchase, then you get paid a certain commission for that sale.
And the best part is you don't have to deal with processing the
payments or even customer support. That is all handled by the
company whos product it is. You just simply provide the link to
it, and that's all.
Here are a couple of great list of Affilate programs you can
join for free and start making money promoting these programs
immediately:
ClickBank
- This company has thousands of Affiliate programs with great
commission rates. The only drawback is that you have no easy way to
search for the companies or programs you're interested in. Since
they have so many great Affiliate programs to choose from, you will
quickly overlook this and will constantly stumble across companies
and programs you never would have thought of. I personally think
ClickBank designed their site this way purposely.
Shareasale
- Another huge company with thousands of Affiliate programs to join.
From Software, to Clothing to Financial, you name it. They cover
every possible category you can imagine. Once you join, just click
on their "Join New Programs"
link and take a look at all the choices there are.
There is a little bit of science that goes into this. For
example, you shouldn't be promoting affiliate programs for
gambling sites if your website is about Boy Scout activities. I
think you get the idea. If your website was about energy
efficiency, then you might promote products like wood burning
stoves or gas heaters, etc. Then when people were on your
website looking for ways to save on their energy bills, they
might decide a wood burning stove is what they would like to
purchase. So if you gave a nice review of why the stove(s) on
your website are the best choices available today, then you have
a very good chance to sell them through your website, generating
commissions for the sales you make.
So
remember, content is king. The more information you have on your
website, the more people will have to read and learn about
things they may not have known before. Then you can help them
make better decisions as they move forward with their decision
making process. Become an expert in something so you can help
others make better decisions and learn from you. Also have a
contact for so they can ask you questions if they couldn't find
the information on your website. If you got a few people asking
the same questions, then thing about adding more content to your
site that addresses these issues.
It's all about learning and growing and maintaining the best
possible website you can and hopefully selling lots of great
products and services to people and generating some nice income
for yourself.
